Different By Design
There are many ways to get support. SafeWatch is different by design.
Australia has excellent mental health services, wellbeing tools, peer communities, carer services and digital treatment programs.
SafeWatch helps strengthen the people around you, family, friends, carers, peers and other trusted supports, so wellbeing doesn't have to be navigated alone.
Because the people who know us well can sometimes notice when something has changed, and being connected can make it easier to support each other.
Different approaches to supporting wellbeing
Different services are designed for different purposes. Rather than ranking them, here's a simple way to understand where different approaches tend to start.
How SafeWatch Fits Alongside Other Australian Services
Australia has an extensive ecosystem supporting mental health and wellbeing.
Many of these organisations provide services that SafeWatch users may already use, and we believe that’s a good thing.
Some provide professional care. Some provide evidence-based self-help. Some build wellbeing skills. Some connect people with peers. Some specifically support carers.
Your Village may include family, friends, carers, peers, mentors, support workers or services.
Your Village isn't a feature.
It's the foundation.
Many wellbeing tools understandably begin with the individual.
Who has your back?
People who know you well and may notice when something isn't quite right.
Someone close to you who may provide emotional, practical and everyday support.
Someone in your everyday environment who may notice changes and offer practical support.
A professional who can provide specialised support and help connect you with appropriate services.
Someone who has experienced something similar and can offer understanding from having been there themselves.
Someone who can provide ongoing practical, personal or day-to-day support.
Someone who can provide guidance, perspective and support while you navigate challenges.
Someone you trust who can listen, check in, or simply be there when things feel difficult.
Your Village might include a parent, partner, sibling, friend, carer, teacher, mentor, colleague, support worker, clinician or somebody with relevant lived experience.
Different people can play different roles.
Some know you and may notice when something isn't right.
Some can help you with practical, personal or professional support.
Some simply get you because they've experienced something similar themselves.
SafeWatch helps people intentionally build those trusted relationships around themselves.
Because we shouldn't have to navigate life's difficult moments alone.
Different services. One connected ecosystem.
Different approaches support wellbeing in different ways. Rather than ranking them, here's a simple way to understand where they tend to start, and how SafeWatch fits alongside them.
Better connected.
Not a replacement for care.
SafeWatch does not diagnose mental health conditions and is not a substitute for psychologists, counsellors, doctors, crisis services or other professional healthcare.
Professional & community care
Psychologists, counsellors, doctors, crisis services and community organisations are essential parts of the wellbeing ecosystem.
SafeWatch
Strengthening the human support system around you.
Your Village
Family, friends, carers, peers and the people you choose to involve can be part of the rest of your week.
Our role is different. SafeWatch helps people strengthen the human support system surrounding them, including the family, friends, carers, peers and services they choose to involve.
A professional appointment may occupy one part of someone's week.
The people in their Village can be part of the rest of it.
We're building alongside the ecosystem, not around it.
Better wellbeing won't come from one organisation trying to do everything. It comes from people, families, carers, communities and services working better together.
